Zendaya revealed that one day it was hard to mess with her co-star Tom Holland for Spider-Man: No Way Home when she had to catch him.
While accompanying Holland on the Graham Norton Show, Zendaya talked about how their difference in size added some embarrassment to certain scenes. He said of the stunt, “Spider-Man takes us across a bridge, and he takes me there … So he should be kind enough to put MJ on the bridge and walk away from him.” Problems arose during the landing phase because the Paris plaster was being repaired. Zendaya continued, “I would land in front of him because my feet openly touched the ground in front of him.”
Despite the laughter from Norton and his audience, Holland joked about his size while having fun. He added the story of Zendaya, explaining that the aeronautical mechanic made landing challenging, “Well that’s a bottom line, isn’t it? The bottom is basically – that’s what they do in the tricks, that it’s basically about stopping you. To use your portable. ”
However, Zendaya is 5 feet 10 inches tall, and Holland is 5 feet 8 inches tall, meaning her feet swim downhill before landing. He protested: “I’m the superhero. I hope it’s cool – it would hit the ground and then land like that and my legs would twist against me and then get caught like that.” The couple then acted, forcing Zendaya almost to take Holland.
Despite the problems the scene created, Holland can joke: “It’s so good to be involved in the change.” The actor had to perform various tricks throughout his career as Spidey. In the same interview with Norton, he recounted how he managed to get a short role from his younger brother Harry Holland to teach him how difficult it can be to film Spider-Man.
Holland also experienced the gloomy nature of the waterfalls during the filming of the Uncharted film. During an interview with GQ, he explained how the shooting left wounds and a newfound respect for CG. He said: “I never realized how lucky I am to have a mask wearing Spider-Man, because when you jump and lift, it’s all in CG. In Uncharted, I only wear suit pants and cargo.”
