Netflix anime series "Super Crooks": everything we need to know

Super Crooks, the highly anticipated anime series based on the Millarworld comics, is coming to Netflix in November 2021! We also have our first look at the upcoming anime, which is animated by acclaimed studio Bones.

The comic first appeared in 2012, and Mark Millar collaborated with Filipino cartoonist Leinnil Francis Yu on four issues known collectively as Super Crooks: The Heist. Leinnil Francis Yu is also known for his work on Marvel Comics titles like Indestructible Hulk and Pheonix Ressurection, and he also worked with Millar on Superior.

For now, you can set a Netflix reminder to receive more information about the series when it becomes available. The following synopsis accompanies the website:

“In this anime adaptation, petty criminal Johnny Bolt recruits the ultimate team for one last heist – for real! From comic book legend Mark Millar.”

In addition, Super Crooks has also been ported as a live-action movie on Netflix.

When will Super Crooks be released on Netflix?

Thanks to the anime spotlight for Netflix’s TUDUM event, it was revealed that Super Crooks would be released on Netflix on Thursday, November 25, 2021.

The long road to a film adaptation of Super Crooks on Netflix

Super Crooks has been in development in one form or another for years. The last time it was on the brink of a television release was in 2016, when it was announced that Waypoint Entertainment had purchased the film rights (along with American Jesus).

That never came to fruition, and it wasn’t until a year later that Netflix announced that they had purchased the entire Millarworld library.

Super Crooks was quickly announced as one of the first projects in March 2019 and is one of the few titles planned as an anime series. It is one of many Millarworld titles currently in development.

How long will Super Crooks take?

Thirteen episodes have been commissioned, each of which will be 30 minutes long.

There is no word on whether this will be a limited series or plans to continue beyond the first season.

Who is the studio behind Millarworld’s Super Crooks?

If you’re worried about what studio is behind Super Crooks, don’t worry. It’s produced by the creators of titles like Fullmetal Alchemist and My Hero Academia. We’re talking about Bones, based in Tokyo, Japan, and founded in 1998. Bones Studio B is working on this Netflix series.

An official trailer was released on October 22, 2021, with the following title:
