“When the first introduce the idea was, my first thought was, ‘Wait. I’m 17. I have a chin, and I have wrinkles, you know. I mean, what should they do? ‘ A one-year-old actor shared under a new villain panel that was posted on Spider-Man’s official YouTube channel, “And then, of course, you suddenly realize: ‘Wait a minute, they have the technology. It will not be a problem. “”

Molina said he eventually decided to get involved in the film because he was excited to rethink an old project and experience it in a new way, noting, “Because technology has made great strides over the last two decades. Exciting.”

The actor also explained why it’s such a pleasure to play a villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, saying, “- villains. Almost against your will, you know?”

“An accident or a tragedy happens, and she changes things. And that makes her very playful,” Molina continued. “Because it’s just curled mustaches. It has a certain depth. And that makes them interesting. I mean, in a not-so-big environment, we’re like villains. They would not just be officials. We would be there for you alone.” You know, it’s starting—the plot. But here we have actual actions, and we have [the story] … these are real people. ”

Molina first appeared as Doc Ock in Spider-Man 2 in 2004, the second part of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, and played by Tobey Maguire as the title weaver. In this film, Molina’s character lost his life by drowning after destroying a building with his robot tackles. Previously announced that Doc Ock would meet Spider-Man Tom Holland in No Way Home thanks to the spells cast by Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch).

Despite Molina’s knowledge of the role, Holland announced in October that Molina would be learning a few new things while filming Doc Ock’s scenes for No Way Home. “It was a bundle of joy to watch [Molina] watch the technology evolve,” Holland said at the time. “When he made [Spider-Man 2] the weapons were dolls, and when we did, they were all fantasy and CG. It was really nice to see how he felt, but he also learned something new.”

Other former Spidey villains confirmed in No Way Home and Doc Ock includes Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, Jamie Foxxs Electro, Thomas Hayden Church’s Sandman, and Rhys Ifans’ The Lizard.

Spider-Man: No Way Home, directed by Jon Watts, will hit theaters on December 17th.
