Netflix says the second season of Squid Game is not written yet

Netflix’s hit Squid Game is set to expand to another season despite beginning reports.

In a conference with Vulture, Squid Game director Hwang Dong-hyuk said that while working on ideas for a future season, Netflix has not yet updated the series. The confusion over a “confirmed” second season follows a poor translation of Dong-hyuk’s comment in an interview with the Associated Press last month. The headlines claimed that the director said, “I would say another season is really coming.” In contrast, he said, “I really think another season is coming.” A spokesman for Netflix said it could be the second possible season of Squid Game. “under discussion but not yet confirmed.”

Dong-hyuk said he felt a lot of pressure while writing a script for the next issue of Squid Game. “I have a bit of a picture for next season,” he explained. “But I must also admit that I feel more and more pressure for the second season because the show has gotten a lot more love and attention than I expected. I’m planning to make a movie after Squid Game, and” I have not decided for which to shoot first .. ”

As for the series’ success, Dong-hyuk said he always believed it could have global appeal because of its themes of economic inequality and modern capitalism. “From the moment I decided to make this story on Netflix, my goal was for it to be recognized by a global audience, so I was hoping that the show was well-received,” he said. “But I never thought that would be the current global perception.”

“Global Sensation” is the perfect description of the series, as 1.65 billion viewers watched Squid Game on Netflix in the first 28 days, and 142 million families signed up to watch Korean dramas. The show broke Bridgerton’s record and became the most-watched program on Netflix. Squid Games’ second season comes as no surprise, especially as the series lets the story shave.
