That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is a popular isekai anime series featuring Rimuru Tempest, a heroic slime who learned to survive and thrive in this new realm. He has gathered countless allies and friends from the monster world around him. Together, they have founded a new nation: the Jurassic Storm Federation, populated by all kinds of colorful and fun characters.
Characters like these need talented voice actors to bring them to life. In Reincarnated as a Slime, many talented voice actors embody these Isekai characters in memorable ways. Who are these replacements, and where have Slime fans heard them before?
Miho Okasaki – The Magnificent Kotobuki and My Next Life as a Villain.
The hero, Rimuru Tempest, was once a regular Japanese office worker until he was stabbed on the streets of Tokyo and woke up in a new fantasy world as a blue slime with many powers and abilities. He took advantage of this and found a new kingdom over which he would rule as a benevolent ruler. He later assumed human form to deal more naturally with human and dwarf politicians and allies. Her counterpart, Miho Okasaki, also embodied the character of Mary Hunt in My Next Life as a Villainess and Mary in The Magnificent Kotobuki.
Mao Ichimichi – Horimiya and Fruit Basket
Rimuru befriended a team of six orcs in the middle of Slime season 1, including a fierce but loyal warrior named Shion. When Shion transformed into a Kijin and took his name, she became Rimuru’s biggest fan and his self-proclaimed secretary and has been his eccentric but enthusiastically ever since. She even accompanied him to the Walpurgis meeting of the demon lords and fought at his side. Her stand-in, Mao Ichimichi, also played Remi Ayasaki in Horimiya and Motoko Minagawa in Fruits Basket.
Megumi Toyoguchi: Claymore and Dragon go looking for a home.
When Rimuru started his new life as a slime, he was given a fantasy AI called the Great Sage in his head that can analyze magic and monsters for Rimuru upon request. Rimuru also consults the Great Sage for tactical advice and administrative tasks. After Rimuru became a true demon lord, the Great Sage evolved into Raphael. The Great Sage’s doppelganger, Megumi Toyoguchi, played Lamia in Dragon Goes House-Hunting and Sophia in Claymore.
Makoto Furukawa – Kaguya-Sama: Love is War & Dr. Stone
Another great troll ally of Rimmu is the flame swordsman Benimaru, who has joined Rimmu’s cause. In season 2, Rimuru relies on Benimaru to lead an army against Clayman’s forces in Eurasia. Benimaru quickly proves his worth as a commander and warrior. His voice actor, Makoto Furukawa, is also known for voicing Miyuki Shirogane in the romantic comedy Kaguya-Sama: Love is War and Taiju Oki in Dr. Stone.
Rina Hidaka: Komi Can’t Communicate, and the Rise of the Shield Heroes.
Despite his carefree personality and youthful appearance, Milim Nava is one of the oldest and most powerful demon lords. He sided with Rimuru when he corrupted them with food and pleasure. Milim declared herself Rimuru’s “best friend” and has been a chaotic but reliable ally ever since. She joined Rimuru in the new Octogram organization, with former demon lords Frey and Carrion as her new subordinates. Her counterpart, Rina Hidaka, also played Ren Yamai in the Netflix anime Komi Can’t Communicate and Filo the Bird Girl in another Isekai series, The Rising of the Shield Hero.
Takehito Koyasu – JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Attack On Titan.
The demon lord Clayman has long been Rimur’s worst enemy and was the mastermind behind Falmouth and the Church’s joint attack on Timur’s capital. Clayman also tried to control Milim like a puppet and tried to besmirch Rimuru’s name during the Night of Walpurgis but lost to Rimuru when the two could clash violently. Takehito Koyasu, Clayman’s voice actor, has played many roles since the late 1980s. Still, the most famous is Dio Brando in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Zeke Yeager/Beast Titan in Attack on Titan.
