One idea, however, seems to justify the character’s actions by making a contaminated product go more profound than the ring.
According to a theory made by Reddit user The_Actual_Pope, Boromir’s corruption began when he cut himself on the sword while holding Sauron’s finger. But to fully understand the idea, it is essential to go back and analyze that moment. In this case, it means a return to the battle against Sauron, where Isildur could not destroy the ring in the fire on Mount Doom.
To get his fingers in the ring, Isildur found herself in a bitter battle with the Lord of Darkness, and with a stroke of the blade, Narsil lifted Sauron’s finger while holding the ring. Since then, fragments of The Shattered Blade have been kept safe in Rivendell, where the elves live. The sword is theoretically safe, but black magic can still be found in the fragments.
The theory is reminiscent of a moment in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, where Boromir meets Aragorn while in Rivendell. At first, he greets Aragorn kindly, though he never gives his name to Boromir. He even accepts Aragorn as a friend because of their connection with Gandalf the Gray. So, while researching Isildur’s legacy, he encounters Narsil. Watch the legend, he tells; he takes the guard and runs his finger across the blade until he cuts his finger. In this case, the character’s attitude changes, and he quickly becomes more upset and scared. The theory is that Sauron’s blood left on Boromir’s blade was destroyed.
