Avengers Endgame Writers Are Glad You don't understand captain America's Ending

Avengers: Endgame writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are jolly audiences progressing to debate the nature of Captain America’s conclusion.

By far, most viewers recognize that after Steve Rogers brought back the Infinity Stones to their exact places, he thought to go back to the past and ultimately share his long-awaited dance along with Peggy Carter. Steve survived out a full, calm life, arriving back as an older man in 2023 to pass the Captain America shield to Sam Wilson. Just about everyone is in agreement; this was the obvious sendoff for Steve, but there is confusion over the logistics.

Captain AmericaEver since Endgame launches, enthusiasts have pondered if Steve went out to an alternate reality to stay with Peggy, or if he was in the prime MCU timeline. Both possess canon-altering implications, and a direct answer has yet to be unraveled.
Even Endgame’s creative team cannot agree on what happened, which is irritating for those who enthusiastically want to know. But if their newest comments are any supplies, Markus and McFeely are enthusiasts of the debate, and they would not be resolving it any time earlier.

Conversing with Vanity Fair about Endgame, the two were questioned for their thoughts on the discussions revolving around Captain America’s ending, which have transpired for months. Rather than displaying out something that could vacate things up, they agreed they love discerning this aspect endlessly debated:

McFeely: Oh, it’s great!
Markus: Yeah, that’s fine. Those are unsatisfied questions. Those are intrigued questions. I’m delighted at people still chewing over this thing.
You know, if it’s “That’s stupid, and I don’t like it and I’m talking about it because it was dumb,” that’s one thing. But if it’s, “I honestly don’t know, and it’s kind of cool to think about,” that’s great.
