Seven character posters have been released for The Wheel of Time, featuring Moyren, Lan, Nain, Egwene, Rand, Matt Perrin, but these portraits are not just about what one can see.
The photos were shared on the official Prime Video series Twitter series, following a post about reaching significant followers, thanking fans for their support so far. “Some pans can move the pattern together,” the tweet said, referring to the “Wheel of Time” tradition, “but our fans make us move every day.” There are seven new posters that you can see below.
The characters are all focused on different outdoor scenes with different predominant colors. But in every poster, there is snow or a full moon just above the hero’s head.
Each poster was titled with new hashtag emojis attached to the hero’s name along with a few descriptive words. For example, Perrin is called “The Blacksmith,” and Egwene is called “Gracious Smoke,” while Naina’s inscription is called “Stubborn Wisdom.”
One side of the digital poster is not visible to the naked eye; it was not explicitly reported by “Wheel of Time” on Twitter. But in response to a fan tweet, a link was added to the downloadable PDF versions of all the posters, and some could “decode” the images to find a hidden layer in each one.
These layers revealed an alternate version of the portraits, with layers of vibrant colors surrounding the central characters that represented the story of One Force. The light forms different shapes around each character, Rand wholly surrounded by it and Nina in the middle of the beam. In Perrin’s wallpaper, the intriguers draw the head of a howling wolf. In addition, when placed side by side, the seven posters can be combined with a strong thread that runs through them all.
This is not the first time that The Wheel of Times ads have involved direct communication with fans on social media. A new, moving poster was recently released featuring Lann and Moyrain in a series of puzzles that had to be put together to reveal themselves fully.
Based on an epic fantasy book series by Robert Jordan Brandon Sanderson, The Wheel of Time premieres on Prime Video on November 19th. The second season of the series is currently in production.
