The Davidson family, a group of bitter rivals who have returned to Austin and are still angry that they lost their farm to Walkers after the tragic fire they left their family forever, are back in Walker‘s second season. Davidson’s return evoked many raw, unresolved emotions that only escalated when hikers discovered they had been under a secret surveillance system in their home for several months. This surprised Walkers, where their loyalty lay when Cordell Walker and his younger brother Liam clashed.
Walker and Micki Ramirez begin a homicide investigation after a body was found at a nearby construction site; With Denise Davidson and her family out of town, Liam is the active prosecutor, but it’s clear that Walker and Liam have not yet overcome their differences of opinion on how to keep an eye on Davidson’s and secret surveillance in their home. This sibling silence intensifies as the alleged perpetrator flees the scene and Liam and Micki complain about their recent personal and professional struggles. Liam admits that he was at least partially relieved when Austin’s lawyer left him on Denise’s behalf, and he was not sure he was ready to take on the enormous responsibility behind this role.
As Bonham and Abby visit a potentially cozy house to settle down with Trey Barnett on a fishing trip, all the drama with the Davidson family aside, Stella and August decide to take advantage of the story and hold a party for their farm colleagues. As Stella and Todd Davidson approach, August investigates the burned-out barn on the farm that led to the tragedy that cost the Davidson family everything. Almost wounded after a fall, the August family finds the Walker lantern in the barn that started the fire.
Walker joins Captain Larry James and his girlfriend Jillian on The Side Step. Walker plans to make the trip for a double date with Geri Broussard. However, shortly after hitting Side Stage, Walker is surprised to see Geri on a date with Drew, whom he met during a pain counseling group. Walker’s questions about Jillian’s Mustang keys make her uncomfortable and suddenly disappear. While this raises Walker’s suspicion, Micki and Liam ask him to reopen the investigation when they come to a new understanding of the murder mystery.
Micki and Liam continue to investigate the murder at the construction site and accidentally fall into the blonde woman named Willa, who fled Walker’s crime scene. Willa takes her into custody and reveals that she is investigating her father’s unsolved murder. The compassionate Micki decides not to keep Willa in control. Walker, Micki, and Liam continue with Willa, who Remy’s suspect took hostage after her father’s death. Willa has Remy in arms and admits to having killed Willa’s father. Micki manages to prevent Willa Remy from being executed on the spot. As a result, Walker and Liam end peace. Walker apologizes to Micki for not taking the trauma he suffered during his secret mission as seriously as he should have done.
Bonham and Abby ended their grandchildren’s party prematurely, angry but ultimately in a good mood in front of the barrel at home. However, Trey learns from the elderly couple that Garrison, an old Micki who was killed during his secret missions that still destroys them so much. Trey leaves Micki a message about Garrison when he gets home, which makes their relationship difficult as Walker and James sympathize with Side Step over their romantic problems.
