The first synopsis of The Flash Season 8 anticipates the start of the narrative sequence of “Armageddon” with a new threat and an old friend.
The Flash has released the first synopsis of its five-part storyline, “Armageddon.”
According to The CW, in the first episode of the season 8 premiere, Scarlet Speedster and her crew will face a “powerful alien threat” that has “arrived on Earth under mysterious circumstances.” To stop him, the Flash will enlist the help of his old friends to save the day. Brandon Routh will guest star in the episode and reprise his role as Ray Palmer / The Atom. “Armageddon, Part 1” will air on November 16.
Routh first joined the Arrowverse in the third season of Arrow, where a veteran industrialist and new CEO of Queen Consolidated, Dr. He, played Ray Palmer. Eventually, the dimension-shifting superhero became Atom. Ray later joined the cast of Legends of Tomorrow as a recurring character until his character left the series in season five when he married the reformed witch Nora Darhk (played by Routh’s real wife, Courtney Ford).
Eric Wallace, who wrote the opening episode of “Armageddon” and served as showrunner on The Flash, said of the transition: “Simply put, these are going to be some of the most touching Flash episodes ever. There are some truly epic episodes, moments, and big surprises, waiting for our fans. And we’re making them on a larger and bolder scale than our traditional Flash episodes. So yes, “Armageddon” is much more than just a comic book story. It’s going to be a real event, old and new for Flash and Arrowverse fans. I can’t wait for him to see what we’ve planned.”
