Season 5 of "F for Family": release date, plot, and cast on Netflix

F’s fifth and final season is for Family, arrives on Netflix on November 25, just in time for Thanksgiving. Find out the latest on F is for Family season 5, what to expect, and more!

The animated series debuted on Netflix in December 2015. They were part of the first wave of animated comedy series for Netflix, starring Simpsons veteran Michael Price, comedian Bill Bur and Vince Vaughn in various roles.

After four seasons and 36 episodes, we’re now waiting for season five, so here’s what we know.

Has F for Family been renewed for a fifth season?

Josef Adalian (aka TVmojoe) announced via Vulture that season 5 had been renewed for October 2020.

The big downside is that the show will end after five seasons on Netflix. This isn’t a total surprise, as Netflix isn’t known for keeping shows alive as long as traditional channels. Bojack Horseman is the longest-running adult animated series on Netflix with six seasons. Still, Big Mouth is expected to surpass it.

F is for Family had a lot on its mind, with a tweet in May 2020 confirming that initial plans have already begun for season 5 and beyond.

FIFF Writers (the excellent account run by Michael Price on behalf of the writing team, from which we’ll quote throughout this article) responded to the news by saying, “We’re so excited to be back for season 5!”

On the Bill Burr Podcast, Bill said, “I can’t tell you how much fun I had doing this show. Writing these characters and [working with] all the voice actors.”

He added that he believes season five will be the best yet, and that “we’re off to a great start.”

In a 20-minute interview with GoldDerby, Michael Price talked about the show’s fifth season and said that neither he nor Bill Burr has decided to end the show, “I would love to continue the show forever, but at the same time, I think we’ve come to a good end of our story.”

Where will the fifth season of F for Family be produced?

In addition to the announcement of season 5, Vulture also confirmed that pre-production on the series has already begun.

On October 2, we got a preview of a Zoom conversation with all the writers for season 5.

We usually start with the story, animation production, sound, voice, and animation, and then go through it all.

How long this process will take depends in part on how many episodes Netflix orders, but we’re guessing it won’t be until 2021, though 2022 seems more likely at this point.

In an interview with Forbes, Michael Price addressed the question of how the pandemic will affect the production of season five.

He said there were no significant changes, at least in the writing department, “The series will be mainly produced the same way, just with different technology.

In early December 2020, two fans had the opportunity to virtually participate in the final table as part of a charity auction, which took place on December 2, 2020.

On December 8, 2020, FIFF writers shared the first screenshots of season 5 in its original, colorless form.

We also learned that episode 501 is titled “THE MAHOGANY FORTRESS,” written by Michael Price.

As for the release date of F is for Family season 5. Bill Burr said on his podcast that he thinks it will come out in 2021, but it could also come out in early 2022.

In May 2021, Price said in the above interview with GoldDerby that he will still host season 5.

How many episodes will F is for Family season 5 have?

Except for the first season, each subsequent season of F is for Family has been extended for 10 episodes. This has not been the case with season 5, which Netflix has not yet revealed.

According to the writer’s explanation, we will find out the number of episodes later. This may be because some season finales have oversized seasons (Lucifer and Ozark, for example), which means we will have more than ten seasons.

In Bill Burr’s podcast mentioned earlier, he says that the finale was read in early December and that the episode number is 44. This means that season 5, with eight episodes, will be slightly shorter than the 10 episodes of the last two seasons.

What to expect from F is for Family season 5

It’s too early to tell what we can expect from season 5, but we do have some clues.

Season 4 ends around October (Halloween). Season 5 will pick up right where the new baby was born and father Bill Burr’s health crisis continues.

Season 5 will occur throughout the rest of the year, with the season 5 finale (and final episode of the series) taking place on Christmas Eve. A Thanksgiving episode will also air.

Bob Pogo will also have his storyline in season 5, which Michael Price says will be “a lot of fun.”

Information about season 5 from the FIFF Writers Twitter account:

Expect to learn more about Frank’s mother in season 5. This could happen in many ways, but is it possible that the character will have a new guest star in season 5?

It has been confirmed that Nora and Sue’s brother will appear in season five.

A new character named Ceacescu will appear in the final season.
