Antagonist Despero had predicted that Flash would go insane and eventually destroy the world. Based on recent events involving Barry Allen, it appears to be moving fast. And as the Armageddon crossover event continues, The Flash, along with Black Lightning and Team Flash, again completely breaks down more familiar faces from Arrowverse to prevent this anticipated apocalypse. Barry tells Jefferson Pierce everything that has happened to him, from the loss of his job to the accusation of having assaulted innocent civilians in the city center. His mind and memories become more and more unstable. Barry recommends that the Justice League put the Protocols of Injustice in place, a contingency plan that would permanently disrupt a hero if ever given it.
Iris informs Team Flash that an invisible force manipulates Flash into his apocalyptic fate and adapts to instability. Iris reveals footage of Joe West, who was killed in a train crash, to support this theory. However, Cecile Horton is not at all sure and has a bitter quarrel with Iris about it. This leaves Team Flash in tow, with Iris and Allegra Garcia coming out to witness Barry and Joe’s manipulation live and Cecile ordering Caitlin Snow and Chester P. Runk to find Barry before Despero can.
Cecile and her team believe they can replicate the caloric technology to strengthen Cecile’s empathy to find the lightning first. Cecile turns to psychic supervillain Rosalind Dillon for help as the cortex acts as a human from Kalanorians. Using modern technology, Cecile is overwhelmed by the number of ghosts she suddenly touches. Still, Rosalind guides her in the hunt for Barry. Despero detects this development and reactivates the S.T.A.R. Particle accelerator created by Labs to increase performance itself. Despero almost kills Rosalind as he attacks Cecile’s group and discovers that Barry is in court.
Further investigations by Iris and Allegra show that the circumstances behind Joe’s train wreck become suspicious when Iris decides to meet privately with Deon Owens, the Silent Power Live Avatar she met in silence, to establish her connections so I can keep track of the armed forces. Deon discovers that one used deadly violence to intentionally interrupt the timeline and subsequently caused Joe’s death because he did not.
Based on research into the nature of his powers, Barry asks Black Lightning to detonate a particular type of electricity to destroy his forces permanently. Jefferson retires after learning of Despero’s life with a frustrating flash that attacks him before Black Lightning regains Barry’s meaning as he remembers Oliver Queens’ memory and all that he sacrificed for the new world. The aggressive Despero interrupts this reconciliation, but Black Lightning, Iris, and Deon give Barry plenty of time to escape and flee until 2031.
Investigating a strange future adventure involving the Western family, Barry is surprised to learn that this is the apparent marriage between Iris and Eobard Thawne in the presence of many heroes from Arrowverse, including Batwoman. As Barry falls into congratulation, it’s clear that the Arrowverse warriors are not happy to see him, and Eobard rejoices over his old arch-enemy.
