How I Met, Your Father is here to fill the void left by Ted, Robin, Marshall, Lily, and Barney.
Just as How I Met Your Mother documented Ted Mosby’s numerous efforts to find “The One” in New York, How I Met Your Father shows a new generation of friends navigating their love life in the Big Apple.
After seven years (and at least three attempts) to start a spin-off, the CBS sitcom series is almost here. That’s all we know about the show.
“How I Met Your Father” release date
Sitcom fans will be thrilled to know that we finally have a release date for How I Met Your Father, much faster than expected! The series will premiere on January 18, 2022, on Hulu.
Unfortunately, we still do not know who will broadcast the series in the UK. We will update this guide with more information as soon as we have it!
How many episodes will be “How I Met Your Father”?
The first series of How I Met Your Father will only have ten episodes. However, it is still unclear whether the series will be published in its entirety or weekly.
Starring in “How I Met Your Father”
The big stars are associated with the first season of How I Met Your Father!
Hillary Duff leads the cast as Sophie. He is similar to Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) in How I Met Your Mother.
Fans of the original CBS show will know that the “Future Ted” snapshot was not made by Radnor but by Bob Saget, and this spin-off will follow a similar pattern.
Duff is not responsible for the story. According to Deadline, this role is played by Kim Cattrall (Samantha from Sex and the City).
Of course, we could not have a How I Met Your Mother spin-off without a cast. Along with Sophie, Francia Raísa (Grown-ish) as Sophie’s roommate Valentina, Chris Lowell (Glow) as an aspiring musician, and Uber driver Jesse Tien Tran (Candyman) as Jesse’s half-sister. Ellen, Suraj Sharma (Life of Pi) as Jesse’s roommate and best friend, Sid, Tom Ainsley (The Royals) as Valentina’s partner, Charlie.
We also know some returning actors so far: Daniel Augustin (David Makes Man) plays Ian, one of Sophie Tinder’s matches. Ashley Reyes (American Gods) is on board as Hannah, Sid’s long-distance boyfriend, and Josh Peck (Drake and Josh) are on board as Drew, a “wonderful assistant principal” at Jesse’s school (by Deadline).
The story “How I met your father.”
Like How I Met Your Mother, this sequel takes place in the future and revolves around the main character (Sophie), who tells her son how she met her father. The most significant difference is that we joined the theater crew in 2021, not 2005.
Hulu’s connecting line for the show reveals more about what to expect from the new show: “Soon, Sophie (Duff) will tell her son the story of meeting her father: a story that will tell us about the launch in 2021, where Sophie and her close circle of acquaintances discover who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love with an era of dating apps and unlimited possibilities.
Is there a trailer for “How I Met Your Father”?
Not yet, but we expect to see one as soon as the show airs in mid-January. We will update it here as soon as a trailer is available.
