Rawson Marshall Thurber, the upcoming Red Notice movie director, wants to return to the Dodgeball world and play with Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds.
In an interview with Deadline, Thurber said it might be fun to revisit Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, which he also directed. “You know what, never say never. I never thought of Dodgeball as a show, but it could actually be fun,” he said. “I’m really proud of Dodgeball it’s my first movie and people always seem to be able to like it a lot. I would say never say never and this should be the right command to do it. But yes, maybe. ”
The comment comes after Disney bought the catalog from 20th Century Fox in 2019. The company has begun relaunching some of the popular franchises it now owns. Dodgeball: A Real Underdog Story was released in 2005 and starred Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Christine Taylor, and Rip Torn. The film grossed a total of $ 167.7 million worldwide and received rave reviews from critics and audiences, scoring 71% from Rotten Tomatoes. A sequel was announced around 2013, but Ben Stiller confirmed that a sequel was not in the works a few years later.
