But in their pursuit of success, Nyxly and Lex may have grasped their disaster. Esme is a Syrian, an alien species with the ability to replicate the powers of other aliens. She successfully copied J’onn and Kara’s powers and reproduced them perfectly in full force. Nyx isn’t technically an alien, but she is a mighty creature that Esme can recreate.
Esme’s coping abilities were on par with their original users. While Esme copied J’onn’s phasing abilities, she managed to fit perfectly into her bedroom wall. She was scared and out of control right now because she wasn’t leaving, but otherwise, she had no problem wielding J’onn’s power.
With Nyxly’s magical capture of the Super Friends anti-magic bracelet, the fairy would be at a disadvantage to Esme if she copied the fairy’s five-dimensional magic. In addition to the power Esme inherited from the Totem of Love, the little girl could prove to be a severe threat to the unsuspecting Lex and Pixley. Although they know their alien status, none had seen Esme in action like her when she protected their old foster mother from a fire-breathing alien.
The bigger question is whether Esme can copy Nyxly’s magic. Unlike human magic, fifth-dimensional magic is almost omnipotent and instantaneous, with no ingredients or spells. The main problem for Esme would not necessarily be to copy and perform the attack itself but instead to emulate the five-dimensional energy from Nyxly to activate this spell. Now that she has the fifth-dimensional power from the love totem, Esme may have broken that barrier.
Another possibility is that Esme evolved from the love totem into Allstone itself. If Esme carries the other six totem poles, she can become the living embodiment of Allstone. If she finds herself in this situation, Esme could theoretically stop Nyxly and Lex with thought and even regret the damage they cause. The untimely death of CatCo reporter William Deys even risks being overturned.
Although Esme can perform ridiculous acts of power, many obstacles stand in the way. Esme is mostly a little girl without enough fighting experience or a superhero. It is perfectly understandable that without the support of Kara or her mothers, she would be afraid to act alone. There is also the unknown of how close Esme must be to imitating her powers. If she was saved or too far from Nyxly and the other totems, she could lose all of her abilities.
But if Esme offers the opportunity, Esme will play a vital role in the struggle to save the universe. The latest addition to the Danvers-Olsen family has already proven to be friendly enough to stand up to school bullies and win the school’s pastry contest. Although she hasn’t been with the family for a long time, Esme has already shown what Danvers and Olsen are known for. With her family and friends by her side, Esme is sure to stop Lex and Nyxly from attempting to conquer the universe.
