Peter Jackson directed the movie representation of the novel. The trilogy was The Fellowship of the Ring (released in 2001), The Two Towers (released in 2002), and The Return of the King (released in 2003). The movie was shot in New Zealand. The shooting duration was from October 1999 to December 2000. Other shots were done from 2001 to 2004.
The film had a generous budget. The budget was $281 million. For its time and today also, it is a considerable investment for a movie. The producers were ambitious. The series is in pre-production in New Zealand. The writers have come along and started writing and breaking stories for the series.
Little is known about the series. Joseph Mawle, who is known for being Benjen Stark in the Game of Thrones, will come in the series as villain Oren. Will Poulter from Black Mirror will also be in the series as a young hero Beldar. Markella Kavenagh from Picnic at Hanging Rock will star as Tyra.
The series will have a completely new storyline leading to the Fellowship of the Ring. The announcement of the show was unexpected. It was announced that the series would be a multi-season series but the release of the seasons was unpredicted.
