Following the release of the iPhone 18 Pro and the $1,999 foldable iPhone Duo, users are reporting prompts within the iOS Settings app. These notifications, which concern Apple services, have been noted by owners of the new devices.
While Apple historically categorizes these prompts as “account notifications” or “feature suggestions,” recent reports suggest that they may be appearing incorrectly for some users. The reporting indicates that these prompts can appear even for users who have already subscribed to high-tier plans.

The timing of these reports coincides with a major transition in Apple’s executive leadership. John Ternus officially succeeded Tim Cook as CEO in early September 2026, marking the first major hardware cycle under his tenure. This follows the late August rollout of paid search advertisements in Apple Maps across the United States and Canada, suggesting a broader strategic emphasis on growing services revenue.
Current reports from users on platforms like Reddit suggest the system is suffering from technical inconsistencies. Some subscribers already paying for 2TB iCloud+ family plans have reported receiving erroneous prompts claiming their storage is full or urging them to upgrade. This indicates a potential server-side bug where the system fails to recognize existing high-tier subscriptions.
The frustration is particularly pronounced among owners of the new iPhone 18 Pro, which saw a $100 price increase this year to start at $1,199. For those purchasing the flagship iPhone Duo, which features a 7.6-inch inner display and a $1,999 starting price, the presence of storage-related prompts has led to discussion regarding the premium user experience.
Apple has not yet issued a formal statement regarding the reported bugs. Under the previous leadership, such prompts were often defended as a means to ensure users were aware of security features like iCloud backup.
