Eternal Author Kaz Firpo recently clarified questions about Kurt Russell’s character in Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2, the latest movie in the Post-Marvel Cinematic Universe, seemed to rewrite the definition of “Celestial.”
“We’ve been talking about it for a long time, but I think that’s one of the things [Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3] might say about it,” Firpo told The Direct about Russell’s ego, the living planet. , it’s heavenly. “… Ego is a really fascinating character, whether he lies or not, it’s a question …”
Fans will remember that in Guardians 2, it was revealed that Ego was Peter Quill’s biological father and that the claimed heavenly being had reproduced with several species across the galaxy. But in Eternals, it is stated that no other stellar has a human form and that they are not designed to conquer the universe.
“I think you’ve seen Celestials in our movies now for who they are, what they’re capable of, the fact that they’re huge as planets, they give birth to suns, and they’re immortal space gods – – yet more like our little gods, immortal in space, “Firpo continued.” I think it will be something we will explore a little over and over again.
He also pointed out that the Eternal has not yet touched the ego when it comes to MCU. “You do not even know who he is. Was he a cheater?” He added. “I do not know, but I’m glad to see James Gunns Guardians 3 as much as you.”
Firpo said he would like to include Galactus as a villain if the MCU moves forward with a successor to the Eternals during the same conversation. “Galactus is an amazing and amazing character and villain,” Firpo said. “Of course we set the stage for intergalactic, cosmic and megalithic clashes, especially when you kill a space god – then the god of space comes and kidnaps you and plans to try the earth’s evil devourers.”
While Eternals producer Nate Moore recently confirmed that there are currently no plans for an Eternals sequel, Firpo told CBR that he thinks many more stories to tell. “I think it is just an incredibly rich universe that has a lot more to do,” he said. “Yes, if we’m lucky it’s going to be a trilogy of very special stories.”
Eternals is directed by Chloé Zhao and is now in theaters. Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 recently started filming and will be released in theaters on May 23, 2023.
