The networks had most of their fall premieres in the last two weeks of September (with a few exceptions), but it looks like HBO will debut in October 2021. We already knew we’d see the third season of Succession and Larry David’s return to Curb Your Enthusiasm. Still, October will also see the fifth and final season of the Issa Rae-led comedy series Insecure.
In addition to acting, Rae co-created the Insecure series with Larry Wilmore (he is also an executive producer). The Emmy-winning series last aired on HBO in June 2020, so fans will surely be glad it’s a year away before it returns.

What is the plot of Insecure?
In the first four seasons of Insecure, viewers followed Issa Dee as she struggled through the complex professional and personal terrain of being a modern African American woman in Los Angeles.
One of the focal points of Insecure’s fourth season was the fractured relationship between Issa and her best friend, Molly. The two split up halfway through the season but reunited in the finale. That doesn’t mean everything is back to normal, though.
While there’s no information yet on the plot of season five, the trailer published by HBO shows that Issa and Molly are still trying to figure out how to keep their newly reestablished friendship from breaking down again. Also, love, both personal and romantic, will be part of the main characters’ storylines.
Who is the main character of Insecure?
Insecure brought Issa Rae, who plays Issa Dee in the series, to her breakthrough. Rae received two Emmy nominations for her performance in the series, leading to film roles in movies such as Lovebirds, The Photograph, and Little.
Molly is the second most important character in Insecure after Issa and is played by Yvonne Orji. She was also nominated for an Emmy (Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy) series and recently starred in the Hulu film Vacation Friends.
Other returning cast members include Jay Ellis as Lawrence, Natasha Rothwell as Kelli, Amanda Seales as Tiffany, and Courtney Taylor as Sequoia. For a complete list of cast members, visit IMDb.

Are there any reviews for “Insecure” season 5?
Before its premiere on October 24, the first reviews for the fifth and final season of “Insecure” are coming in. In their study, Variety calls the direction the last ten episodes seem to be rewarding, but at the same time a bit disappointing, as some of the elements that helped make the show work so we’ll have to be avoided due to Issa’s natural and well-deserved evolution. However, The Hollywood Reporter found that the series continues to move forward “with its characteristic poise and aesthetic elegance.”
