Limited-time deals this October help households manage rising subscription costs.

With Disney+, Apple TV+, and Peacock all implementing significant price increases in the final months of 2026, streaming costs for the average household have reached a new peak. Ad-free Disney+ Premium rose to $21.49 per month on September 23, while Apple TV+ now sits at $14.99. For many subscribers, these new rates will hit billing cycles starting as early as October 21, making the current window of limited-time discounts essential for those looking to keep their total monthly streaming budget below $60.

To offset these “streamflation” trends, several major platforms are offering aggressive promotional rates this October. The most significant savings are found in annual commitments and live TV introductory offers that specifically target cord-cutters looking for alternatives to high-priced premium tiers.

Top Live TV and Sports Discounts

For those looking to replace traditional cable while avoiding the full $80+ price tag of most live services, two major promotions are active this month.

Hulu + Live TV is currently offering 50% off the first month for new and eligible returning subscribers. This promotion brings the price down to $49.99 for the “With Ads” plan, providing a substantial buffer against recent price hikes elsewhere. This deal is scheduled to expire on October 26, 2026.

Sports fans can also look to Fubo and YouTube TV for temporary relief. Fubo is taking $30 off the first month of its Elite package, reducing the entry cost to $69. Meanwhile, YouTube TV has introduced specific “Genre Plans” for Sports and News, which are discounted to $52 per month for the first six months. While these do not include the full YouTube TV lineup, they provide a lower-cost entry point for viewers who only require specific live channels.

Seasonal Savings: Horror and Movies

October is historically a strong month for niche services, and AMC+ is leveraging “spooky season” with its most aggressive annual deal of the year. Through October 12, 2026, new and upgrading users can secure a full year of AMC+ Premium for $39.99. This is a strategic move for horror fans, as the subscription includes the full Shudder catalog along with IFC Films Unlimited and Sundance Now.

STARZ is also competing for movie viewers with two distinct options: a full year of service for $30 or a shorter-term “teaser” rate of $5 per month for the first three months. These movie-heavy services offer a way to supplement basic ad-supported tiers on other platforms with high-quality cinematic content at a fraction of the cost of a standalone Disney or Max subscription.

Hardware and Future Outlook

The cost of services isn’t the only way to save this month. Significant discounts on streaming hardware are currently live, with the Fire TV Stick 4K priced as low as $18 at major retailers. Upgrading hardware during these sales can often provide better performance for the increasingly heavy ad-supported interfaces of 2026.

While the current landscape is dominated by price increases—including Peacock’s recent move to $12.99 for Premium and $19.99 for Premium Plus—relief may be coming for multi-service users. Industry reports indicate that Peacock will be included in YouTube Premium subscriptions at no additional cost starting in early 2027, potentially streamlining bills for those willing to wait out the current quarter.
