Guillermo del Toro’s latest film, Nightmare Alley, has a new trailer. The clip shows the film’s starring role and teases a shocking story with a psychiatrist and a showman.
Based on the 1946 novel of the same name, Nightmare Alley follows the story of Stan Carlisle, a carnival with a tendency to manipulate people. Finally, she meets the even more psychiatrist Dr. Lilith Ritter, who proves to be the best in games and manipulation. The trailer shows the outcome of some of these games, with some twists and blood from Carlisle’s story.
The first trailer for the film was published in September. It showed Ritter and his attempts to penetrate Carlisle’s illusion and expose him as a swindler. Known for his most impressive works, such as The Shape of Water and The Faun’s Labyrinth, Del Toro had previously stated that there would be no supernatural elements in Nightmare Alley.
Del Toro spoke with Collider in 2019 and said, “Well, this book was given to me by Ron Perlman in 1992, before I saw the movie Tyrone Power, and I enjoyed the book. The whole book is impossible, it’s epic. There are darker elements. in the book, and this is my first chance Ai – in my shorts I would go black. It was horror and black. And now it’s your first chance to make an “A true low society film.” [There is] nothing supernatural element. Just a simple story, really dark. ”
Based on William Lindsay Gresham’s novel, Nightmare features Alley Bradley Cooper as Carlisle, Cate Blanchett as Ritter, Toni Collette as Zeena Krumbein, Willem Dafoe as Clem Hoathly, and Ron Perlman as Bruno. The film also stars Richard Jenkins, David Strathairn, Jim Beaver, Tim Blake Nelson, Mary Steenburgen, Holt McCallany, and Clifton Collins Jr.
