Prime Video has officially greenlit a sixth season of its hit action series Reacher, confirming the renewal on Monday, September 28, 2026. The announcement arrives just 12 days after the Season 4 finale, signaling a rapid acceleration in the streamer’s plans for the franchise.
The early renewal follows a period of significant viewership growth for the series. Season 4, which concluded on September 16, reached a milestone of 66 million global viewers in its first 28 days on the platform. Since the show’s debut in 2022, the Reacher franchise has surpassed 200 million cumulative viewers, cementing its status as a cornerstone of Amazon’s original programming.

Peter Friedlander, head of global television for Amazon MGM Studios, attributed much of the success to Alan Ritchson’s portrayal of the title character, noting that the performance has captivated audiences worldwide. This momentum has led to a broader “Reacher Universe” strategy, which recently saw the launch of the spinoff series Neagley. Starring Maria Sten, the spinoff premiered its entire first season on the same day as the Reacher Season 4 finale.
Production Status and Season 5 Details
While Season 6 is now confirmed, production is already well underway for the show’s fifth installment. Filming for Season 5 is currently taking place in Toronto. This upcoming season is set to adapt Make Me, the 20th book in Lee Child’s long-running novel series.
While Season 4 was based on the novel Gone Tomorrow, the specific source material for the newly announced Season 6 has not yet been disclosed. The franchise remains a high priority for Amazon MGM Studios as they continue to leverage the massive audience engagement across both the primary series and its expanding spinoffs.
