For the 2026-27 sports season, Prime Video has transitioned from a national broadcaster into a significant hub for local sports. This shift is headlined by a major expansion into regional NHL coverage and the introduction of dedicated local sports network (RSN) channels available as monthly add-ons.
The most substantial change for the 2026-27 season, which begins September 29, 2026, is Prime Video’s role as the exclusive local streaming home for six NHL franchises. Fans located in the home markets of the Carolina Hurricanes, Anaheim Ducks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, and St. Louis Blues now access their teams’ regular-season broadcasts directly through the Prime Video app.
For fans of the Anaheim Ducks and Dallas Stars, these local broadcasts are available at no additional cost to in-market Prime members for the 2026-27 season.

Chicago Sports Network and Regional Add-ons
Chicago-area sports fans can now access local games for the Blackhawks, Bulls, and White Sox via the Chicago Sports Network (CHSN) channel on Prime Video. The network, which is available as a Prime Video add-on, utilizes a tiered pricing model. Subscribers can choose to follow a single team for $19.99 per month or gain access to the full network’s coverage of all three teams for $29.99 per month.
In the Pacific Northwest, Seattle Kraken games remain available to Prime subscribers located in Washington, Oregon, and Alaska as part of an ongoing regional rights agreement.
Local Broadcast Access via Fox One
To address the gap in local broadcast station availability, Amazon introduced the “Fox One” subscription channel. For $19.99 per month, this service provides Prime members with a live feed of their local Fox affiliate, alongside national sports channels FS1, FS2, and the Big Ten Network.
This subscription is positioned as a primary workaround for fans looking to watch local NFL Sunday afternoon games that air on Fox. It also includes comprehensive coverage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, making it a central component for soccer fans during the tournament cycle.

While Prime Video has integrated these RSN-style offerings, the availability of local sports remains strictly tied to a user’s physical location. Subscribers must be within a team’s designated home market to access regional NHL games or the specific local feeds provided by the Fox One or CHSN channels. Fans outside of these regions typically require league-wide out-of-market packages, such as ESPN+, to view the same games.
