Netflix is coordinating a significant streaming moment for Keri Russell fans this fall, pairing the upcoming return of her current political thriller with the classic drama that first established her career. The move comes as part of a wider content agreement that will see several high-profile Disney-owned titles head to the platform.
According to Netflix Tudum, The Diplomat Season 4 is officially scheduled to premiere on October 15, 2026. The show enters its new season with considerable momentum, currently holding seven Emmy Award nominations, including a nod for Outstanding Drama Series.

The Disney-Netflix Licensing Partnership
In addition to the new episodes of The Diplomat, Netflix is adding all four seasons of Felicity to its U.S. library. The 1990s coming-of-age drama, created by J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves, is being licensed to Netflix in a non-exclusive deal with Disney. This arrangement allows the series to remain available on Disney-owned platforms, such as Hulu and Disney+, while reaching a broader audience on Netflix.
As detailed by Variety, the licensing agreement serves as a strategic promotional tool for Disney. By placing established hits and recent favorites on Netflix, the company aims to build interest in continuing seasons or related film projects. The rollout includes several major properties arriving over the next two months:
- Percy Jackson and the Olympians: Seasons 1 and 2 will be available on Netflix starting October 4, 2026.
- Will Trent: The first four seasons of the ABC procedural are scheduled for a global Netflix release on November 3, 2026.
- Ice Age: Films from the animated franchise are also joining the service, coinciding with Disney’s plans for Ice Age 6.
Expanding the World of ‘The Diplomat’
Season 4 of The Diplomat will continue the intricate political maneuvering of U.S. Ambassador Kate Wyler. The new episodes are expected to explore the fallout of Grace Penn’s ascension to the Presidency and the complexities of Hal Wyler’s new position as Vice President.
The upcoming season will also see a shift in the cast hierarchy. Allison Janney and Bradley Whitford have been promoted to series regulars for the fourth season. Their increased presence is expected to deepen the political drama as the show’s focus remains on high-level diplomacy and the personal costs of international governance in London.
