The ABC news magazine 20/20 premieres a new two-hour special tonight, October 2, 2026, titled “Home Alone.” Airing at 9:00 p.m. EDT, the episode investigates the 2015 cold case of Allison Feldman and the decade-long journey to secure a conviction through advancements in forensic science.
The program details the February 2015 murder of 31-year-old medical salesperson Allison Feldman in her Scottsdale, Arizona, home. The investigation originally stalled, as there was no known connection between Feldman and her attacker. The breakthrough eventually came through familial DNA testing, a process that allowed investigators to narrow their search to a specific family line.

The forensic efforts led to the arrest of Ian Mitcham. In April 2026, a jury found Mitcham guilty of first-degree murder, sexual assault, and burglary.
Tragedy struck the family again shortly after the verdict. Allison’s father, Harley Feldman, who had been a vocal advocate for his daughter for over a decade, died unexpectedly on April 28, 2026, just days after seeing Mitcham convicted.
New Forensic Experts Join 20/20
This episode also marks the introduction of David and Kristen Mittelman as new contributors this season to the 20/20 team. The Mittelmans, founders of Othram Labs, specialize in forensic genetic genealogy and will provide expert analysis on how DNA technology is being used to resolve decades-old cold cases that traditional methods could not solve.
The Mittelmans’ involvement extends beyond the broadcast. A companion podcast episode, 20/20: The After Show, is scheduled for release on October 5, 2026. The podcast will feature a deeper technical breakdown of the science used to identify Mitcham and the evolving landscape of forensic genealogy.
Viewers who miss the linear broadcast on ABC can stream “Home Alone” starting Saturday, October 3, 2026, on both Hulu and Disney+.
