Star Wars: Galactic Racer is scheduled for release on October 6, 2026, bringing a high-stakes roguelite structure to the franchise’s racing history. Developed by UK-based Fuse Games, a studio founded by veterans of the Burnout series from Criterion, the title has already established itself as a critical standout. As of October 2, the game holds an OpenCritic average score of 87 from 56 reviews, marking it as one of the highest-rated Star Wars entries in recent years.
The game departs from traditional linear racing by utilizing a “runs-based” campaign structure. Similar to games like Hades, players embark on racing circuits where they must upgrade their vehicles between attempts to survive increasingly difficult tiers. This loop is supported by four distinct vehicle classes: Landspeeders, Speeder Bikes, Skim Speeders, and Podracers.

The Skim Speeder class leans into the arcade-style handling characteristic of the developer’s pedigree. The core gameplay loop focuses on the “runs-based” roguelite campaign structure, which IGN and other outlets have highlighted as a significant departure from the more simulation-heavy Star Wars racers of the past.
To maintain strict adherence to the Star Wars timeline, Galactic Racer is set in the post-Original Trilogy era. This narrative choice explains the absence of Anakin Skywalker from the initial launch roster, despite the inclusion of Podracers.

On a technical level, the game is optimized for current-generation hardware. It is officially PS5 Pro Enhanced and is capable of reaching over 100fps at 4K resolution on high-end PC hardware. For those interested in competitive play, Galactic Racer supports up to 12 players in online cross-platform multiplayer.
The standard edition of Star Wars: Galactic Racer is priced at $59.99, with a Deluxe Edition available for $79.99. The game will be available across major platforms, including PC and consoles, starting October 6.
