Epic Games is scheduled to launch a long-awaited Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF) collaboration for Fortnitemares on October 1, 2026. The crossover introduces the primary cast of the horror franchise to the Battle Royale environment, coinciding with the current “Override” theme of Chapter 7 Season 4.
The collaboration features four confirmed animatronic skins: Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy. Each of these cosmetics includes a “Withered” edit style, allowing players to utilize the decayed versions of the characters. These skins are also designed with reactive damage components, which provide visual feedback on the character models as players take damage during combat.
New Gameplay Mechanics and Boss Encounters
According to claims reported by The Sunday Guardian, the FNAF integration will go beyond cosmetic items. The animatronics are expected to appear as boss encounters within the game world. A new mechanic has been described where players who defeat these bosses can briefly transform into them, though it remains to be seen how this functionality will differ between standard Battle Royale modes and specific Limited Time Modes (LTMs).
The update will also incorporate music from the franchise’s history. A Jam Track based on the Five Nights at Freddy’s song by The Living Tombstone was featured in teaser materials. The track is expected to be available for use within Fortnite Festival and as a lobby music option.
This horror-centric event arrives amidst a dense year for crossovers. The 2026 roadmap for the platform has already confirmed upcoming collaborations with Kingdom Hearts and South Park. The addition of Freddy Fazbear and his crew serves as the centerpiece for this year’s Fortnitemares, focusing on the survival-horror elements that defined the original indie series.
