Apple TV+ has officially scheduled the premiere of its highly anticipated adaptation of Neuromancer for January 22, 2027. The 10-episode series will debut with a two-episode premiere, followed by a weekly rollout that concludes on March 19, 2027.
Based on William Gibson’s seminal 1984 novel, the series follows Henry Case, a disgraced computer hacker who is recruited for a high-stakes heist alongside Molly Millions, a “street samurai” with cybernetic enhancements. Callum Turner stars as Case, while Briana Middleton portrays Molly.
A Star-Studded Cyberpunk Ensemble
The production features a deep ensemble cast. Beyond the leads, the series stars Mark Strong, Peter Sarsgaard, Joseph Lee, Clémence Poésy, and Dane DeHaan. Showrunner Graham Roland, known for his work on Jack Ryan, oversaw the adaptation, while director J.D. Dillard helmed the first three episodes to establish the show’s visual identity.
For nearly 40 years, Neuromancer was frequently labeled “unfilmable” by industry insiders. Previous attempts to adapt the work by directors such as Tim Miller failed to move past development, largely due to the challenge of visualizing Gibson’s complex depiction of “cyberspace”—a term the author famously coined—and the dense narrative structure of the source material.
Production and Global Reach
The series is a major collaboration between Paramount Television Studios, Skydance Television, Anonymous Content, and Apple TV+, with Drake’s production company, DreamCrew Entertainment, also involved in bringing the project to fruition.
Filming for the series took place primarily at Farnborough International Studios in the United Kingdom. To ground the story’s high-tech, futuristic aesthetic, the production utilized several real-world locations, including the Aviator Hotel and Farnborough Airport. While the initial 10-episode run covers the events of the first book, the production’s scale has led to speculation regarding the potential for future seasons based on the remaining installments of Gibson’s “Sprawl” trilogy, though no further adaptations have been officially confirmed.
