Apple TV+ has officially scheduled the thriller series The Savant for a Spring 2027 release. The announcement ends nearly two years of uncertainty for the high-profile production, which was abruptly removed from the streaming platform’s schedule just days before its planned debut in late 2025.
The series, starring Jessica Chastain, was originally slated to premiere on September 26, 2025. However, Apple TV+ pulled the project on September 23, 2025—only 72 hours before it was set to go live. The decision followed the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025, an event that reportedly created a sensitive political climate for the show’s subject matter.
The Savant is an eight-episode limited series inspired by Andrea Stanley’s 2019 Cosmopolitan article, “Is It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?” Chastain portrays Jodi Goodwin, an undercover investigator tasked with infiltrating online hate groups to identify and prevent potential acts of domestic extremism.
The nearly two-year postponement has been a point of public friction between the network and its lead star. Chastain previously expressed that she was “not aligned” with the decision to pause the release, advocating for the show’s relevance despite the timing.
Joining Chastain in the cast are Nnamdi Asomugha and Pablo Schreiber.
