Ridley Scott of The Last Duel claims the damned millennial cell phones were responsible for the bomb blast

Director Ridley Scott talked about The Last Duels’ poor box office performance and blamed millennials and cell phones for the film’s failure.

During the WTF podcast with Marc Maron, Scott talked about The Last Duels box office bombing and said the film’s failure was not due to bad publicity. “I think it has to do with this: What we have today is the audience that has grown on those damn phones. Millennials [sic] will never learn unless they tell you that. Head.” Mobile phone. ”

“It’s a broad line, but I think we’re against Facebook right now,” Scott continued. “It’s a bad direction what happened when we put the wrong belief in this latest generation, I think.” Scott went on to say that he was behind The Last Duel.

The Last Duel was released in October and is an adaptation of Eric Jager’s The Last Duel: A True Story of Trial with Combat in Medieval France. The film, written by Nicole Holofcener, Ben Affleck, and Matt Damon, takes place in medieval France and explores the country’s latest legal duel.

This duel occurs between Jean de Carrouges (Damon) and Jacques Le Gris (Adam Driver). The latter is accused of raping his wife, Marguerite (Jodie Comer). The final duel takes place from the point of view of the three characters. It has been compared to Rashomon Akira Kurosawa.

The Last Duel scored well with critics and has 85% Rotten Tomatoes. However, the film put pressure on the box office and earned only $ 28.1 million on a budget of around $ 100 million. The latest duel was also announced during the COVID-19 pandemic, and many were still reluctant to attend the shows in person. The film was also released a week before the acclaimed Denis Villeneuve adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Fort, which earned $ 367.2 million at the worldwide box office.

Scott, who turns 84 at the end of this month, is a well-known director in science fiction films such as Alien from 1979, Blade Runner from 1982, and The Martian from 2015. The director is also known for historical works such as Gladiator in 2000 and Kingdom of Heaven in 2005. Some of his films have been nominated for Oscars. His next project will be Gucci House. This movie, starring Adam Driver, Lady Gaga, and Jared Leto, will hit theaters on November 24th. Early reviews show that the project is 66% based on Rotten Tomatoes.
