Warner Bros. and Cartoon Network Studios have officially released the trailer for the second season of Adventure Time: Side Quests, confirming a return to the Land of Ooo on October 2, 2026. The new season will consist of 20 episodes, all of which are scheduled to drop simultaneously on Disney+ and Hulu in the United States.
While the original Adventure Time series and its recent spin-off, Fionna and Cake, leaned heavily into complex lore and serialized storytelling, Side Quests continues to function as a prequel-style reboot. The series focuses on the younger years of Finn and Jake, prioritizing the standalone, “monster-of-the-week” adventures that defined the earliest seasons of the franchise.

The official trailer highlights several of these low-stakes detours, including a sequence where the duo enters a dream world to battle “baby gladiators.” Fans can also spot the return of Banana Man and other familiar faces from the original series’ gallery of eccentric side characters.
New Voice Talent and Familiar Favorites
Because the series takes place during Finn’s early childhood, the character is voiced by Sasha Knight rather than original actor Jeremy Shada. This casting choice allows the show to explore a higher-pitched, more impulsive version of the young hero. However, much of the classic ensemble remains intact. John DiMaggio returns as Jake the Dog, providing the familiar grounded energy to counter Finn’s youthful enthusiasm.
The supporting cast features the core voices of the original series, including:
- Tom Kenny as the Ice King
- Hynden Walch as Princess Bubblegum
- Olivia Olson as Marceline the Vampire Queen
- Niki Yang as BMO
Production and Distribution Details
The creative direction of the series is led by showrunner and executive producer Nate Cash, who previously served as a storyboard supervisor on the original Adventure Time. The production team includes supervising director Victor Courtright and directors Niki Yang, Rose Feduk, and Katie Aldworth.
The release strategy for Side Quests marks a notable shift in distribution. While the first season premiered on June 29, 2026, the second season will premiere all 20 episodes on Disney+ and Hulu in the U.S. on October 2, 2026. For viewers outside of the United States, the series will begin its international broadcast rollout on Cartoon Network starting October 5, 2026.
By focusing on 20 self-contained episodes, the new season appears designed to capture the “silly” energy of Ooo before the introduction of the more tragic, overarching plotlines seen in the later years of the original show’s run.
