A French Bulldog that Sir David Amess said always made him smile was crowned Westminster Dog of the Year.
Vivienne was owned by the Conservative MP from Southend West, who was stabbed to death during a meeting with voters in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, two weeks ago.
Sir David named his mate for always cheering up her spirits and saying she was “an enthusiastic supporter of Southend becoming a city!”
Southend was granted town status in Sir David’s honor, days after his death.
Westminster Dog of the Year is a celebration of the bond between dogs and their parliamentary owners.
The Dogs Trust, which manages awards with the Kennel Club, said Vivienne was an appropriate winner “in memory of Sir David Amess, a devoted animal lover.”
Conservative MPs Andrew Rosindell and Mark Francois reaped the honor with Vivienne.
The moment we’ve all been waiting for … Vivienne takes the #WDOTY Crown! In memory of Sir David Amess, a devoted animal lover, Vivienne is a worthy winner.
