The government announced that the level of terrorist threat currently faced by parliamentarians has been increased from “moderate” to “substantial” following a review.
Interior Minister Priti Patel told municipalities that the police and intelligence services would “correctly” reflect the change in their security arrangements.
But he added that there was no information on “any credible or specific threats”.
The announcement comes after Conservative MP Sir David Amess was killed in his constituency on Friday.
