franchise is transitioning between streaming platforms this October.

The entire Hunger Games film franchise is scheduled to depart Netflix on October 14, 2026, ending a brief three-month residency on the platform. The departure includes all four original films starring Jennifer Lawrence, as well as the 2023 prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.

According to the official Netflix Tudum departure list, the films will be removed simultaneously, making October 13 the final full day for subscribers to stream the series on the service. The franchise originally arrived on Netflix on July 14, 2026, meaning the licensing agreement spanned exactly 90 days.

Where the Franchise is Heading Next

Fans of the series will not have to wait long for a new streaming home. The five-film collection is confirmed to move to Hulu on October 14, the same day it exits Netflix. For viewers with the Disney Bundle, the films will also be accessible via the Hulu on Disney+ integration.

The move involves the following titles:

  • The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 (2015)
  • The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (2023)

Preparation for Sunrise on the Reaping

This streaming transition arrives just weeks before the franchise returns to theaters. Lionsgate is preparing for the theatrical release of the next installment, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, which is scheduled for November 20, 2026.

The upcoming prequel focuses on the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. The story features a young Haymitch Abernathy, with Joseph Zada cast in the role originally made famous by Woody Harrelson. The film’s ensemble cast also includes Jesse Plemons and Elle Fanning.

The short-term licensing on Netflix follows a growing trend where major studios utilize high-traffic platforms for brief promotional windows to build momentum before transitioning content to long-term streaming partners or coinciding with new theatrical entries.
