This development follows a previous romantic encounter between Murtagh and Jocasta during the Beltane Festival in the show’s first season, suggesting that the Highlander’s past was more socially and romantically complicated than his later years might have implied.
This new relationship arc is designed to provide context for the “scarred” and often stoic version of Murtagh portrayed by Duncan LaCroix in the original series.
