Netflix is significantly expanding its partnership with Sesame Workshop, anchoring a week of major streaming announcements that include a highly anticipated heavyweight boxing date and a series of high-profile casting reveals for Disney+.
The streaming giant has extended its agreement for Sesame Street through Season 62, ensuring the long-running preschool staple remains a fixture of its children’s programming. Beyond the series, Netflix is developing a Sesame Street feature film in partnership with Rideback, the production house founded by Dan Lin that previously produced The LEGO Movie and the live-action Aladdin. The expansion is part of a broader preschool slate that includes the rollout of specific content volumes through 2027.

Heavyweight Boxing and Live Sports Strategy
Netflix has also finalized the details for one of the most significant sporting events in its growing live portfolio. The Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua heavyweight bout is officially scheduled for Friday, Dec. 11, 2026, at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
Despite earlier rumors of a potential move to New York to satisfy international markets, the Cardiff venue was selected to accommodate the fighters’ home fan base. To balance global viewership, the match is expected to air at approximately 2 a.m. local time in the UK, placing it in a prime-time evening slot for North American audiences. The fight will be available to all Netflix subscribers at no additional cost, continuing the platform’s shift away from the traditional pay-per-view model.
Disney+ Reboots and Marvel TV Outlook
Disney+ has confirmed production on a Darkwing Duck reboot, revealing a cast that blends veteran voice talent with Hollywood stars. Mark Hamill will voice the dual roles of Darkwing Duck and Drake Mallard, joined by Seth Rogen as Launchpad McQuack and Lizzy Caplan as Gosalyn Mallard. Supporting cast members include Dan Stevens as Glade McTowers and Kathryn Newton as Firecracker.
On the Marvel front, reports indicate that Daredevil: Born Again is currently structured to conclude after its third season. The reported decision to end at Season 3, which is expected to premiere in March 2027, follows a broader trend in Disney’s Marvel TV strategy, which has seen rising production costs and a more focused approach to multi-season arcs.

Network Shifts and Streaming Renewals
The landscape for sports entertainment distribution is also shifting. WWE Main Event will end its long-standing distribution on YouTube, moving its weekly premiere to the Rumble platform starting Oct. 14, 2026. This move highlights an increasing fragmentation of WWE rights as the organization balances its major Netflix deal with smaller platform partnerships.
Other notable streaming updates include:
- The Beast In Me: Netflix has renewed the thriller for a second season. Claire Danes is confirmed to return following a successful first season that garnered 21 Emmy nominations.
- A Man on the Inside: The series will conclude with Season 3. The final episodes will feature new cast additions Bernadette Peters and Nick Offerman.
- Peacock Documentaries: The platform has greenlit OJ’s Accomplice, a two-part documentary scheduled for a December 2026 release.
- Pluto TV: The free ad-supported service announced its October “Friday Double Feature” schedule, which will include pairings of Kill Bill and Smile.
These developments come as streaming platforms move into the final quarter of the year, focusing on securing long-term franchise stability and high-draw live events to maintain subscriber momentum through the next two years.
