Reacher Season 4 Maintains Billion-Minute Nielsen Streak as Neagley Spin-off Debuts

Reacher's fourth season continues to draw massive audiences with its character-focused action formula.

Since its return to Prime Video on August 12, 2026, Reacher has solidified its position as the definitive force in the streaming action genre. While the platform previously found success with the high-stakes geopolitical drama of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Alan Ritchson’s portrayal of Jack Reacher has carved out a more dominant, character-focused niche that continues to shatter viewership expectations.

According to Nielsen data, Reacher Season 4 recorded five consecutive weeks with over 1 billion minutes watched in the United States. During the reporting window of September 7–13, 2026, the series maintained its momentum by clearing 1.18 billion minutes, securing the number-one overall streaming spot for four of its first five weeks. This sustained performance highlights a shift in audience appetite toward the pulpier, “lone-wolf” formula adapted from Lee Child’s novels.

Expanding the Universe with Neagley

The success of the main series has provided a springboard for a broader “Reacherverse.” On September 16, 2026, coinciding with the Season 4 finale, Amazon MGM Studios premiered the spin-off series Neagley. Starring Maria Sten as the fan-favorite private investigator Frances Neagley, the show has already achieved critical acclaim, debuting with a 92% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The decision to launch the spin-off alongside the Season 4 conclusion appears to have captured the franchise’s peak momentum. Unlike the global intelligence operations seen in the now-concluded Jack Ryan, the Neagley series focuses on the specialized, tactical investigative work that has become a hallmark of the Reacher franchise’s appeal.

Season 4 Narrative and Future Outlook

Season 4 of Reacher adapted the Lee Child novel Gone Tomorrow, moving the action to New York and Philadelphia. The season’s critical and commercial reception has validated the studio’s early confidence; Amazon MGM Studios officially renewed the series for a fifth season in May 2026, months before the Season 4 premiere even aired. Production circles suggest that Season 5 may look toward the novel Make Me as its primary source material.

Alan Ritchson’s personal profile has grown in tandem with the show’s success. Beyond the small screen, his recent box-office performance in the film Runner—which grossed $15 million within its first two weeks—suggests his “King of Action” status is translating into broader cinematic appeal. With Reacher Season 5 already in the pipeline and Neagley establishing its own footprint, the franchise has effectively moved past the shadow of its predecessors to become the primary anchor of Prime Video’s action programming.
