Phantom theories are bread and butter on any excellent fan base. No fictional work is theoretically more mature than Twilight Saga. With a range of mythologies and sometimes frightening moments, Stephenie Meyer’s iconic work is the breeding ground for various theories ranging from the reasonable to the simply incredible.
One Reddit theory stands out from the others by its bold statement. In Breaking Dawn Part 1, the grand finale shows Renesmee’s traumatic birth from Bella Swan. Then Edward Cullen bites her and turns her into a vampire, just like the rest of her family. But what if Edward was not the one who transformed Bella?
Reddit user posted a theory that Renesmee was the one who made Bella a vampire and not Edward. This theory is based on a simple moment in this chaotic scene as Renesmee walks away from Bella’s body. There is a distinct “cracking” sound as if he has bitten Bella as he walks away. This is entirely possible since the baby was probably hungry and fed on the human blood that Bella still had at the time.
The theory is that human/vampire hybrids can turn humans into vampires, as evidenced by the story of the boy Ticuna at the end of Breaking Dawn Part 2. He is said to have turned his aunt into a vampire.
While human/vampire hybrids generally should not be poisonous, the story of the boy Ticuna contradicts all stories, according to the Twilight vampire, which proves that exceptions can be made. According to the story of the boy Ticuna, Renesmee can accidentally turn his mother into a vampire.
Although this theory has some scope to be correct, part of the birth scene is overlooked. After Renesmee’s kidnapping, Edward Bella bites all over her body to ensure enough poison enters her bloodstream to save her life.
Although Renesmee bit her, Edward brought far more of his poison into Bella’s bloodstream, and it’s more likely that her poison changed her than Renesmee’s single bite.
In the end, this is only a theory, and there is no hard evidence that Renesmee turned Bella into a vampire. Usually, it was Edward who changed her. While not entirely impossible, it is doubtful. Either way, Bella eventually became a vampire, meaning the whole plan worked, no matter who took the last bite.
