Top new science fictionfantasy movies to see in December 2021

December is usually a Large month for movie releases, hoping to keep it fresh for the Oscars. It usually shows a lot of expensive and very imaginative movies, even stories. This year is not the end of the twenty-six feature film releases of about twenty-six science fiction films and lesser-known films that appear to have been left on the sidelines. This includes everything from the upcoming Spider-Man movie and the long-awaited sequel to the Matrix series to unexpected movies that combine science fiction and fantasy with comics and Christmas stories.

However, the big surprise is how many science fiction and fantasy films come to the cinema and come directly to streaming networks, how many films come on demand and in cinemas simultaneously, and who instantly enjoy more. Here are the science fiction and fantasy films that were seen and released in theaters in December.

Hilda And The Mountain King

The feature film Hilda and the Mountain King is the sequel to the Netflix animated series Hilda, depending on the graphic novel of the same name. While Netflix has been silent about the details of the film, it seems to fit the series and follow the graphic novel’s story. Young Hilda must negotiate the neighborhood life of people and trolls to regain her human form and save the troll town Trolberg. Hilda and the King of the Mountain is a family-friendly fantasy story that is the perfect way to call the end of 2021.

Hilda and the Mountain King will be released on Netflix on December 30.

Portal Runner

Portal Runner, one of December’s less scary rides, follows Nolan, a teenager. The latter discovers he can use mirrors as portals to travel to worlds like his, but still a little dubious. But it gets sour for Nolan when he realizes that he has been turned into an evil monster from one world to another. As Nolan falls into a world with an original version of his own family, he asks his big sister for help to stop the monster for Christmas and save Christmas. Portal Runner is a relentless Christmas sci-fi story that might be perfect for this season.

Directed by Cornelia Duryée and Elise Eberle, Sloane Morgan Siegel, Carol Roscoe, and Brian S. Lewis, Portal Runner will be available from December 10 on streaming and demand platforms.

Encounter

Encounter follows the adventures of a sailor and father, played by Riz Ahmed. His ultimate mission is to rescue and protect their children from an invasion of gang-like aliens. Although fans do not reveal much about the dangers of science fiction in the film or story, Encounter likes to use aliens as a backdrop for a family drama. The film will touch the audience’s hearts, make the most of several genres and focus on the personal connections between the characters.

Directed by starring Riz Ahmed and Michael Pearce, Octavia Spencer, Rory Cochrane, Lucian – River Chauhan, and Aditya Geddada, Meet the 3.

Mother/Android

In a universe where androids are common and valuable, Mom / Android asks the expected question: What happens when they turn us on? A pregnant woman determined to survive the Android riot with her son’s father must travel to Boston to give birth in a safe place. While not a new story to escape the robot apocalypse, the actions of the aforementioned near-zombie androids offer a new way of looking at it. With human appearances torn to pieces to reveal robotic skeletons, Mother / Android Androids promises something new to the genre, as Moretz, Smith, and Castillo welcome humanity into history.

Directed and written by Mattson Tomlin and Algee Smith, starring Chloë Grace Moretz and Raúl Castillo, Mother / Android, will be released on Hulu on December 17.

Spider-Man: No Way Home

The third of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man films, Spider-Man: No Way Home, ensures that the superhero film fits nicely into the sci-fi/fantasy world. This time, the teenage superhero tries to confront his new reputation after revealing his secret identity. After getting help from Doctor Strange’s wizard, he accidentally opens the doors to the multiverse. He invites the villains to play earlier versions of his stories. One of the most anticipated releases in December, Spider-Man: No Way Home, is sure fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are on the hunt for something weird.

They are directed by Jon Watts and Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau and Marisa Tomei, and Spider-Man: No Way Home in theaters on December 17.

The Matrix Resurrections

Matrix Resurrections is the long-awaited 4th installment in the Matrix series that set the world on fire in 1999. Skeptic Thomas Anderson, Neos’ pre-awakened name from the original, must reconnect to his love Trinity and clothes to follow. White Rabbit again and enter the Matrix, which is more dangerous than ever. Plot details have been leaked, though star Keanu Reeves has primarily referred to it as a love story and is hoping for some exciting action. But honestly, there’s nothing special about the plot. The Matrix has been a part of the spirit of the times for so long that a crowd will surely draw new stories into the beloved universe like The Matrix Resurrections.

Directed by Lana Wachowski and Keanu Reeves, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carrie-Anne Moss, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jada Pinkett Smith, Matrix Resurrections will premiere in theaters and on HBO Max in December. 22

Don’t Look Up

Cast for a star led by Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio, Don’t Look Up follows the adventures of two scientists who discovered a comet that was destroying a planet on Earth. When researchers try to spread the word and warn the public, they become disappointed and ridiculed. It’s a fun idea that gets even more fun (maybe) because you’re so close to home. Don’t Look Up sounds crucial in December. Still, it can also provide scientists with fun and edible performance in front of a gloomy, capitalist audience.

Written and directed by Jennifer Lawrence and Adam McKay and Leonardo DiCaprio, Don’t Look Up will be released on January 5.
