The 2nd episode of The Wheel of Time set new standards for this complex scene

In a new interview, wheel of Time producer Rafe Judkins revealed that he was struggling to record the iconic song “Weep of the Manether” in episode 2 of the Prime Video series.

“It’s been a battle from day one to get this on the show because it’s crazy when your main character sits on a horse all day and monologues on screen for four minutes about a city that is the City Does Not Exist Show. “, Judkins told the decision-maker. “So the other writers in the room, in the studio and on the web told him that. Everyone he met during the trial asked me to remove it. But I never drew it.”

In Robert Jordan’s novel The Eye of the World and episode 2 (“Shadows Waiting”) of the series, the “Weep of the Manetheren” moment revolves around an old folk song about something called the Manetheren. On the show, Mat (Barney Harris) begins to sing the song while hanging out with Aes Sedai Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), Egwene (Madeleine Madden), Perrin (Marcus Rutherford), and Rand (Joshua Stradowski). But when Mat reveals that she does not know what the Mother is, Moiraine tells the story of an old fort that once stood by the two rivers.

“I sometimes think there are intangible things in the books that make you fall in love with them, and there’s something intangible about this Manetheren conversation that makes you fall in love with this world,” Judkins said. “I fought for him every step of the way, through the script, the footage and the editing process, because I felt like this was something that was at the heart of Time Wheel of Time.”

Fan and Judkins said the “Weep of Manetheran” scene is a significant change from the premise of the previous series. The set featured almost four rare moments of inner search amidst action-packed episodes.

Judkins recently rejected a popular fantasy that Laila Darn’s character, played by Helena Westerman, could be revealed as a “black friend.” “I do not know this fantasy theory, so I do not want to go into it, but I think Laila, the character, comes from at least one line in the books where Perrin said I can not remember the exact words, but” “I think if I lived in Two Rivers for the next few years, I would probably marry Laila Dearn,” Judkins said, referring to him appropriately at the time, that was all. The sergeant also suggested that fans of Jordan’s novels do “things. “Note.”

The 1st season of The Wheel of Time is currently being streamed on Prime Video, with a new episode airing every Friday.
