Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas thanked viewers of the BBC One show for helping her discover the “troubling” symptoms in her body.
The TV star said several viewers had reached out to say they thought they noticed a lump under their arm.
She said she sought medical advice and found her hormone levels “aren’t right” and she needs some scans.
“All in all a little worrying for my doctor,” he said, adding that he had made an appointment at the hospital.
She wrote on Instagram that her doctor was “making an appointment to check out some weird things happening in my body”.
He added: “I will keep each and every one of you updated. Remember that health is wealth, so I will deal with these issues for the time being.”
The former dining room champion expressed gratitude “to each of you who set me up on this path”.
In an accompanying video message, the 61-year-old said tests showed that her testosterone levels are “ultra-high”, her estrogen levels “extremely low” and that she needs scans of her adrenal glands and ovaries. .
The Strictly Regular has spoken openly in the past about her family’s history with breast cancer and underwent surgery to remove her breast implants in 2019.
Fellow judge Motsi Mabuse was among those who sent messages of support, telling Ballas to “take care of himself”.
Host Tess Daly said she was “sending love,” feelings echoed by many other Strictly dancers and celebrity contestants.
Ballas and Mabuse will meet again in Saturday’s Halloween special along with co-speakers Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke.
